Lesson 300 Only An Instant Does This World Endure

II.  SECTION 8.  What is the Real World?

Lesson 300.  Only An Instant Does This World Endure.

  1. This is the thought which can be used to say that death and sorrow are the certain lot of all who come here, for their joys are gone before they are possessed, or even grasped.  Yet this is also the idea that lets no false perception keep us in its hold, nor represent more than a passing cloud upon a sky eternally serene.  And it is this serenity we seek, unclouded, obvious and sure, today.
  2. We seek Your holy world today.  For we, Your loving Sons, have lost our way a while.  But we have listened to Your Voice and learned exactly what to do to be restored to Heaven and our true Identity.  And we give thanks today the world endures but for an instant.  We would go beyond that tiny instant to eternity.[1]

We have learned in these past ten lessons about the Real World.  We know exactly what to do to have Heaven and our true Identity restored to us.  Yes, we go through the valley of the shadow of death, but we have no fear for we know it lasts but for an instant.  That tiny instant may stretch out for us in time as if it lasted several lifetimes, but our hope is in God’s holy world today.

We are seeking the Voice for God.  We are reading our lessons and applying them the best we can to our lives.  We are refraining from judging our lapses and the ways in which we cherish unforgiveness in our hearts, and yet we are asking for peace that passes understanding, the love that forgives and overlooks all that it is not.

Today marks 300 days into the year of this Course study.  The ideas in the workbook have been hard to believe, but we were not required to believe.  Our unbelief is not held against us.  Truth is truth and so if the ideas are true, they will work in application; if they are not true, they will not work.  Nobody threatens our eternal security by threats of everlasting torment when we find things hard to believe!  If there is a Real World where peace and joy and love unite us into the perfect holy Sons of God, then we have decided to go there, to seek it out, to do whatever it takes to go there.  When we resist the exercises and find fault with the ideas, we are only required to do one thing – apply the ideas and honestly share with each other our resistance and dismay.  There is no Big Cheese who leads us, has all the answers, and commands us to obey. We are on a path of discovery and remembrance. It is a journey without cost and sacrifice, which promises nothing but to show us the way to forgiveness, love, and the everlasting Kingdom of God.

Coming up on sixty, my love for God, home and hearth, my husband and family fueled my decision to devote the rest of my life only to pursuits which brought love, joy, peace, and purpose. I am a writer, seeker, student, and teacher with experience professional and otherwise from waitressing to teaching the English language in China, Taiwan, and Singapore. I hold a BA in Psychology from Bloomsburg University, which took nearly 30 years to attain while I squeezed courses in between raising my children, journaling, relationships, work, and an assortment of escapades, some of which I would rather forget! An ongoing passion for reading, writing, adventure, food, and fun, eventually led me to the love of my life, James, whom I met in 1996 and married in 1997. Our life together has been an exciting journey of work and travel, spiritual awakening, and domestic bliss ever since. Although we have experienced the tragic loss of family members and friends through death and estrangement, we have managed to turn our special relationship into a holy one by the grace of God and an acute and growing awareness of “there must be a better way!” In 2006, I published my first novel, Luella’s Calling, and am currently working on my second, Grover Good and the Stone Chateau. From 2013 through 2018, I worked as a Prevention Education Specialist for Transitions, a local domestic violence sexual abuse victim’s service agency. My work there, fueled by a lifelong enthusiasm for teaching, led me to obtain an MS in Education from Scranton University. In 2018, I resigned to accompany James on his work travels while focusing on my calling to study and teach A Course in Miracles. To that end, I dedicate the rest of my days to writing, sharing, and teaching the message of salvation found within the Course pages. Thank you for your interest in this blog.
