Lesson 332 Fear Binds The World. Forgiveness Sets It Free.

II.  SECTION 12. What is the Ego?

Lesson 332 Fear binds the world.  Forgiveness sets it free.

  1. The ego makes illusions.  Truth undoes its evil dreams by shining them away.  Truth never makes attack.  It merely is.  And by its presence is the mind recalled from fantasies, awaking to the real.  Forgiveness bids this presence enter in and take its rightful place within the mind.  Without forgiveness is the mind in chains, believing in its own futility.  Yet with forgiveness does the light shine through the dream of darkness, offering it hope, and giving it the means to realize the freedom that is its inheritance.
  2. We would not bind the world again today.  Fear holds it prisoner.  And yet Your Love has given us the means to set it free.  Father, we would release it now.  For as we offer freedom, it is given us.  And we would not remain as prisoners, while You are holding freedom out to us.[1]

Spinning lies and making illusions is all the ego can do because it knows no truth.  Lost, confused, arrogant, having no center and no reality, fearful fantasies and temporal pleasures are the only offerings the ego can use to distract us from the truth.  For the ego, truth is death – not because of attack and war upon it.  Not because ego is an opponent of truth, only that truth stands alone – certain and real.

When we forgive all of the illusion, recognizing it as not real, we have cleared our mind to what has always been there.  Truth stands alone – not fighting its way in, battling flesh and blood, bolstered by its own bluster – the shadow has gone, the substitutions vanish – quiet, dignified, and respectful, truth alone stands forever.  We, who believed in lies, deceit, condemnation and dreary, endless battles of right and wrong are set free from time’s version of reality, from the chains of fear and ongoing purposelessness.  Blanket forgiveness allows the light to shine through.  Blanket forgiveness says – “Aha!  It was all a lie, a dream, a mean hoax to keep us from our rightful place in the Sonship of God.  Of course we forgive it.  Look what we learned from it!  We never wish to be separated from God again.  Take us home, Father, to the place where we belong, our purity and our innocence unmarred by the ego who would impersonate and call itself by our name.”

In today’s prayer we state that we will no longer hold Creation prisoner by our fear of the ego’s illusions.  There is no attack in our Father and His Love.  The Vision of Christ gives us reality as we see past time and suffering into eternity.  We set Creation free today, and as we set Creation free, we are free!  Letting all the ego’s condemnation and bluster go – we will no longer give the outrageous nightmare our energy, our belief, or our allegiance.  Truth is truth and there is no other.

Coming up on sixty, my love for God, home and hearth, my husband and family fueled my decision to devote the rest of my life only to pursuits which brought love, joy, peace, and purpose. I am a writer, seeker, student, and teacher with experience professional and otherwise from waitressing to teaching the English language in China, Taiwan, and Singapore. I hold a BA in Psychology from Bloomsburg University, which took nearly 30 years to attain while I squeezed courses in between raising my children, journaling, relationships, work, and an assortment of escapades, some of which I would rather forget! An ongoing passion for reading, writing, adventure, food, and fun, eventually led me to the love of my life, James, whom I met in 1996 and married in 1997. Our life together has been an exciting journey of work and travel, spiritual awakening, and domestic bliss ever since. Although we have experienced the tragic loss of family members and friends through death and estrangement, we have managed to turn our special relationship into a holy one by the grace of God and an acute and growing awareness of “there must be a better way!” In 2006, I published my first novel, Luella’s Calling, and am currently working on my second, Grover Good and the Stone Chateau. From 2013 through 2018, I worked as a Prevention Education Specialist for Transitions, a local domestic violence sexual abuse victim’s service agency. My work there, fueled by a lifelong enthusiasm for teaching, led me to obtain an MS in Education from Scranton University. In 2018, I resigned to accompany James on his work travels while focusing on my calling to study and teach A Course in Miracles. To that end, I dedicate the rest of my days to writing, sharing, and teaching the message of salvation found within the Course pages. Thank you for your interest in this blog.
