Lesson 227 This Is My Holy Instant Of Release

Part II:1 WHAT IS FORGIVENESS?

Lesson 227 This Is My Holy Instant of Release

  1. Father, it is today that I am free, because my will is Yours.  I thought to make another will.  Yet nothing that I thought apart from You exists.  And I am free because I was mistaken and did not affect my own reality at all by my illusions.  Now I give them up, and lay them down before the feet of truth, to be removed forever from my mind.  This is my holy instant of release.  Father, I know my will is one with Yours.
  2. And so today we find our glad return to Heaven, which we never really left.  The Son of God this day lays down his dreams.  The Son of God this day comes home again, released from sin and clad in holiness, with his right mind restored to him at last.[1]

Meditation for Today

In today’s lesson Jesus leads us in a prayer of surrendering the self we made in exchange for our real Self in God.  Until we realize that an alien will has made us at animosity toward God, we are trapped in a state of nothingness.  It looks real, it tastes real, it seems real, but it is death and decay.  Nothing apart from God lasts forever, and until we exchange our temporality for eternity, we are trapped in a state of illusion, a mass enchantment, a dream of separation, sorrow, and uncertainty.

Jesus tells us to pray this prayer of release as we put the self that we made before God and accept His Will, our true Will, our true Self in Him.  This is the way of return to His Kingdom.  We surrender all the trinkets of time for the treasures of eternity.  We recognize the difference between what has value and what is valueless.  We exchange a state of sin and shame for wholeness and well-being.  We exchange the wrong mind of the ego for the right mind of Christ.

Join with me in faith as we free our minds and join our wills with God’s.  As we continue our practice, aligning our will with God’s Will, surrendering the final remnants of the false and fickle ego that would still cling to our minds, we are liberated.  Ask God to reveal the meaning of this lesson to you.  Find your still and quiet place and meditate upon the words and sentences.  With sincerity and no pretentions pray the prayer of release found at the beginning of this lesson.  Our spiritual eyes can be opened in the dream and we can awaken others.

Let this be our holy instant of release!

My love for God, home and hearth, my husband and family fueled my decision to devote the rest of my life only to pursuits which brought love, joy, peace, and purpose. I am a writer, seeker, student, and teacher with experience professional and otherwise from waitressing to teaching the English language in China, Taiwan, and Singapore. I hold a BA in Psychology from Bloomsburg University, which took nearly 30 years to attain while I squeezed courses in between raising my children, journaling, relationships, work, and an assortment of escapades, some of which I would rather forget! An ongoing passion for reading, writing, adventure, food, and fun, eventually led me to the love of my life, James, whom I met in 1996 and married in 1997. Our life together has been an exciting journey of work and travel, spiritual awakening, and domestic bliss ever since. Although we have experienced the tragic loss of family members and friends through death and estrangement, we have managed to turn our special relationship into a holy one by the grace of God and an acute and growing awareness of “there must be a better way!” In 2006, I published my first novel, Luella’s Calling, and am currently working on my second, Grover Good and the Stone Chateau. From 2013 through 2018, I worked as a Prevention Education Specialist for Transitions, a local domestic violence sexual abuse victim’s service agency. My work there, fueled by a lifelong enthusiasm for teaching, led me to obtain an MS in Education from Scranton University. In 2018, I resigned to accompany James on his work travels while focusing on my calling to study and teach A Course in Miracles. To that end, I dedicate the rest of my days to writing, sharing, and teaching the message of salvation found within the Course pages. Thank you for your interest in this blog.
