Lesson 300 Only An Instant Does This World Endure

II.  SECTION 8.  What is the Real World?

Lesson 300.  Only An Instant Does This World Endure

  1. This is the thought which can be used to say that death and sorrow are the certain lot of all who come here, for their joys are gone before they are possessed, or even grasped.  Yet this is also the idea that lets no false perception keep us in its hold, nor represent more than a passing cloud upon a sky eternally serene.  And it is this serenity we seek, unclouded, obvious and sure, today.
  2. We seek Your holy world today.  For we, Your loving Sons, have lost our way a while.  But we have listened to Your Voice and learned exactly what to do to be restored to Heaven and our true Identity.  And we give thanks today the world endures but for an instant.  We would go beyond that tiny instant to eternity.[1]

The theme of our last ten lessons have focused on the real world.  This is the world beyond the grasp of this one.  We learned that while this world can only be perceived through eyes of fear and brings terror to our minds; the real one can only be perceived through eyes that have been blessed by forgiveness.  In the real world no terror is possible and there is no one who bears witness to fear.  The real world is the correction for this one because it is a counterpart for each thought of unhappiness and fear we perceive in this one.

We learned that quiet eyes and a mind at peace are what allows us to perceive and experience the real world even as we live out our humanity in this one.  The real world gives us rest from the cries of pain and sorrow heard in this one.  There we see only gentle sights and sounds – this is all that can reach the forgiven mind, which no longer cherishes attack, but sees each brother as himself.

When our minds are finally at peace within themselves, we experience no danger – for our minds are now kind and can only behold kindness. The real world stands for the end of time, when sin and guilt are done and the Sonship of God, the Brotherhood of Christ, are no longer stupefied in the illusion of death, of fear, enchanted by thoughts of all that is not love.  There is no more need of time because we are awoke in Him.

Only an instant does this world endure and then God takes His final step – time is finished, and knowledge is restored to us.  This is the instant which is our goal for it contains the memory of God.  We look upon the real world, the forgiven world.  We no longer see our brother as our enemy; someone who may get more than his share, someone with whom to war over limited resources, bicker over who is smarter, bigger, sexier, more deserving or more righteous.  We finally see our brothers as ourselves – forgiveness has restored our Identity and we are welcomed home!

Training our minds to see the real world has brought to us stillness and peace, an assurance of a happy outcome to all things, and freedom from fear.  We have been taught to embrace love, to stop being afraid of love’s holy light.

In Part II, section eight, we learned about the neutrality of the body.  We are freed from the ego’s manipulation of it, we no longer worship it nor let it stand for our Identity in Christ.  We dedicate our bodies to God only to serve the function intended for it in the world and then we happily let it be replaced for greater good!  We do not want it anymore.  Our bodies are not God’s Son, they are symbols used in the dream to divide and separate us and keep us from knowing our brother as ourselves.

We learn to choose our Holy Spirit to correct all that our flesh eyes perceive in the world.  We learn to welcome Holy Spirit to speak through us. This is the way of redemption.  This is the way we are delivered from all terror and all pain.  This is the way to peace of mind in a world that offers no peace!  We learned that the key to identifying fear is that it appears in many forms – love has only one form.  Love makes us one.  Seeing through our Holy Spirit’s eyes we can correct all forms of fear simply by offering forgiveness which is the reflection of love.  Our path to God is not hard or impossible – Holy Spirit gladly comes to rescue us from hell when we choose His vision, and His words with which to teach the world the easy path to God.

We learn that forgiveness is all we seek and all we give.  We hold nobody and nothing accountable here in this world because we know now that this world is an illusion that is only kept going with our belief in it.  When we forgive it – the world of death, decay, and destruction fades away and only the real world remains. Our true Identity is made apparent once again!  We are reestablished as the loving Son – the senseless journeys, the insane careers, the valueless values – the stress, the strife, the stupidity – gone!  We have passed through the valley of the shadow of death to meet our Love, our Father, our true and holy Selves.   We no longer fear our eternal holiness.  God has made us to be One with Him, our will and God’s Will are one.

Only an instant does this world endure, Jesus explains in the conclusion of our lessons about the real world. We already know and have experienced that death and decay are the only things we can count upon in this world.  Our lesson today tells us in no uncertain terms that only an instant does this world endure.  Time seems to be stretched to its limits to encapsulate the many forms of fear and torment experienced throughout history – the plagues, wars, famines, storms, inquisitions, mass destruction, exterminations, death marches, crucifixions, lynching, enslavement…the list seems to be endless of that which is meant to terrify and subdue us.  And yet in only an instant does forgiveness brush it all away.  A passing cloud in a sky eternally serene – the serenity of the real world is what we seek today.

We have lost our way, but we have listened to the Voice for God.  We know precisely what to do to be restored to Heaven and to our true Identity in Him.

Today we give thanks that the world endures but for an instant; we would go beyond that tiny instant to eternity with God.

My love for God, home and hearth, my husband and family fueled my decision to devote the rest of my life only to pursuits which brought love, joy, peace, and purpose. I am a writer, seeker, student, and teacher with experience professional and otherwise from waitressing to teaching the English language in China, Taiwan, and Singapore. I hold a BA in Psychology from Bloomsburg University, which took nearly 30 years to attain while I squeezed courses in between raising my children, journaling, relationships, work, and an assortment of escapades, some of which I would rather forget! An ongoing passion for reading, writing, adventure, food, and fun, eventually led me to the love of my life, James, whom I met in 1996 and married in 1997. Our life together has been an exciting journey of work and travel, spiritual awakening, and domestic bliss ever since. Although we have experienced the tragic loss of family members and friends through death and estrangement, we have managed to turn our special relationship into a holy one by the grace of God and an acute and growing awareness of “there must be a better way!” In 2006, I published my first novel, Luella’s Calling, and am currently working on my second, Grover Good and the Stone Chateau. From 2013 through 2018, I worked as a Prevention Education Specialist for Transitions, a local domestic violence sexual abuse victim’s service agency. My work there, fueled by a lifelong enthusiasm for teaching, led me to obtain an MS in Education from Scranton University. In 2018, I resigned to accompany James on his work travels while focusing on my calling to study and teach A Course in Miracles. To that end, I dedicate the rest of my days to writing, sharing, and teaching the message of salvation found within the Course pages. Thank you for your interest in this blog.
